The best of our vineyards

The character and composition of soil affects the finished wines significantly. There are deep soils, clayey loams with high content of lime, and water-retaining soils. Therefore, the vine does not suffer from a lack of water even in the drier years and the wines are mineral, full-bodied and aromatic with sufficient acidity.

Top-quality grapes are the most important precondition for the production of the best wines. We harvest the grapes solely by hand. The quick and gentle grape processing is the first precondition for the production of the best wines.

Our white wines are full-bodied, mineral, with fresh acidity and long aftertaste. The controlled grape fermentation with low temperatures, i.e. 14 – 17° C, provides the wines with purity and smoothness in taste and flavour.

The fermentation of red wines is supported by cultured yeast, however, it runs spontaneously and with high temperatures, which provides them with force and better structure.

Our red wines mature longer, which increases their quality. Such wines can be archived (for 5 and more years). We start selling red wines not sooner than 2 years after the harvest, so that they have enough time to mature in oak barrels.

Wine tasting

„We care for our wines with love.“

The company was established in 1996 by experienced vintners to produce wine from own vineyards. As early as in that year we started building a new wine cellar and planting new vineyards in the Strážnice area.

Between 1996 and 1998, we planted out 13 ha vineyards with the following white varieties: Rhine Riesling, Sauvignon, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay, and the blue varieties Blaufränkisch, Pinot Noir and Blauer Portugieser.

The second wave of planting in the Strážnice wine trails took place between 2003 and 2004, mainly in the Horní Hory Trail. We extended the area with already grown varieties and we planted out new varieties: Pinot Blanc, Green Silvaner, Red Traminer and blue varieties Zweigeltrebe and Merlot on an area of 17 hectares.

Nowadays, we cultivate 30 ha vineyards, and wines from our own vineyards are our major and only programme. However, we do not process the whole of our production, we pass a part of our vine grapes on the associated vintners in our region.

In our area, the Burgundy varieties do well, i.e. Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir as well as Chardonnay and Blaufränkisch. Green Silvaner and Blauer Portugieser growing has a long history in the Strážnice area.

The vineyards are planted on heavy clayey loams with high content of lime, the subsoil consists of Tertiary rocks, such as siltstones, claystones and limestones. The soils are deep and they retain water well. The trails, such as Dolní hory, Podkovné and Žebráky, lie in the lower slope sections.

The trails in the upper slope sections, such as Horní štamfáty and Horní hory, contain more soil skeleton. The stones are warmed up on days and they radiate the warmth at nights, which is very important for the maturation of red wines.

These soil provide our wines with unchangeable full-bodied taste and extractiveness. Especially Pinot Blanc reaches an extraordinary quality.

Where the wine is born

Our vineyards are situated at the White Carpathians foothills, in the heart of the nature park. The Žerotín and the Stará Hora hills are dominating the vineyards. Here, at the altitude of 340 meters, is situated our best wine trail – Horní hory. The local vineyards were founded by our ancestor in the 14th century.
